This episode marks a major milestone: What Would They Do? has officially turned ONE!
I’m taking a moment to reflect on the journey, from self-doubt to launch, to 55 episodes, to charting in 18 countries, and the community and collaborations the podcast has sparked along the way. It’s a celebration of all things retention, customer experience, and the power of showing up… especially when it feels uncomfortable.
And because it wouldn’t be a birthday without party favors, I’m kicking off Birthday Week on my website until 17 March 2026 with a scavenger hunt full of hidden surprises, exclusive offers, and limited-time freebies.
How long it really took to launch this podcast (and why it was worth it)

“Visibility might get you attention but it’s retention and remarkable customer journeys that help you build a sustainable business that lights you up, but also makes your customer feel something and encourages them to stay on that journey with you. So customer experience is your invisible advantage that people still don’t talk enough about, particularly in the age of AI and AI slop.”

Today’s episode is super special because what would they do is turning one. today? Happy birthday to me and I’m officially kicking off birthday week as part of the celebrations and that includes a fun website scavenger hunt and a rerun of the top three episodes so the most popular episodes you have
absolutely connected with on another level during the past year. So if you’ve ever wanted to snoop around my website with a purpose, now is that moment and your opportunity to be rewarded for it. I actually cannot believe that this podcast has been in your ears for a whole year. Time has flown by and this is actually the 55th episode. Over the past year
The podcast has charted in 18 countries. It has collected incredible five-star reviews from all over the world, and it has seen thousands of downloads. Plus, it has allowed me to connect with amazing listeners like you and also guest experts along the way. Many of them have turned into even more partnerships along the way. So this podcast has absolutely opened up
so many opportunities for me and I actually am super excited for what’s to come in the next year. When I look back at the amount of self-doubt that’s surrounded this whole process of launching a podcast, it actually took me two years all up to go from
Nadine, you should launch a podcast. I think that will be a great idea to actually announcing it, putting it out there, putting the launch party together and putting the trailer out there. So I’m so glad that I pushed through that level of discomfort and trusted my instincts and I just did it because good things rarely happen inside your comfort zone. We all know that.
And over the past year, the podcast quickly has become one of my favorite connection tools. It allows me to verbalize what’s going on in my head because often it’s hard to put into writing, I find, even as a former copywriter. But I just love the bite-sized conversations and thought
bubbles that I get to put out into the world. Hopefully they have resonated with you over the past year as well. So I want to take this episode to thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening, for sharing, for DMing, for reviewing.
The results and the impact has shown me that I’m totally on the right track with this show and people like you are hungry for conversations around retention and customer experience and remarkable customer journeys.
This podcast exists because far too many people are still chasing new leads at any cost and are totally ignoring the people who have already said yes to them. The people who have put their hand up, they are engaging with your content. They have invited themselves in to your world and you’re totally ignoring them.
So here’s a quick reminder, visibility might get you attention and not necessarily the right level of attention if you’re not being strategic about your visibility opportunities, but it’s retention and remarkable customer journeys that help you build a sustainable business that lights you up, but also makes your customer feel something.
and encourages them to stay on that journey with you. So custom experience is your invisible advantage that people still don’t talk enough about, particularly in the age of AI and AI slop. But enough of that,
Birthday week is happening on my website and while my podcast is having a party, is turning one, you’re getting the gifts. So I have created a fun scavenger hunt over on my website where you need to find a Nadine badge that’s hiding freebies, exclusive offers and surprise goodies that are otherwise not available.
There’s a new surprise that drops every two days for the next week. And all you have to do, as I said, is find my Nadine badge, click on it to reveal your surprise. It’s basically like a digital Easter egg hunt, except that there’s no chocolate, but you get a ton of resources that can up level your customer journey And you can even score exclusive one-on-one access to me totally free.
I’m also re-releasing the top three most loved episodes from the last year. They will drop every two days during birthday week. And if you don’t want to miss any of them, make sure you subscribe your takeaway for today, making it real easy, subscribe to the podcast, visit my website via the link in the show notes and
leave a review because that is ultimately the easiest way to show your support if you have enjoyed tuning in over the last year.
Thanks again for listening. I am super excited to kick off the official celebrations over on my website. Make sure you hop across and grab one of the fun surprises and I will see you for the next official episode next week.
